5 things to check on your Shopify site every month
Share
1. Check your products and key pages
Start with the pages customers use most: your homepage, collections, product pages, contact page and checkout journey. Make sure images load, prices are correct, options are available and descriptions still reflect what you sell. Businesses change often, and an old promotion or unavailable option can quietly create confusion or lost sales.
2. Review your backups and store information
Your store data is valuable, so make sure you know how important information is protected and where you would find it if something went wrong. Review your product exports, customer communication records and important brand assets. Keep copies of essential content in a safe place, and check that staff access is limited to the people who need it.
3. Test links and forms
Click through your main navigation, promotional banners, buttons and footer links. Look for pages that lead to the homepage by mistake, missing pages or links that no longer match your current offers. Submit your contact form and newsletter form yourself so you know messages arrive where they should. A five-minute test can prevent a potential customer from reaching a dead end.
4. Check speed and images
A slow store can make people leave before they see your products. Visit your important pages on a normal mobile connection and notice how quickly the main content appears. Large images are often the easiest improvement: use clear images that are appropriately sized rather than uploading files much larger than customers need. Review apps and extra features too, because tools you no longer use can add unnecessary weight.
5. Review the mobile experience
Open your store on a phone and browse as if you were a first-time customer. Check that text is easy to read, buttons are comfortable to tap, product images are clear and important information appears before too much scrolling. Test search, filters, variant selection, cart and checkout. A store can look perfect on a laptop and still feel awkward on a small screen.
Turn maintenance into a habit
Put a recurring reminder in your calendar and spend 30 minutes on this checklist each month. Keep a short note of what you tested and what needs attention. If you notice a problem you cannot solve confidently, ask your Shopify partner for help rather than letting it remain visible to customers.
A healthier store earns trust
Regular checks are not about chasing perfection. They are about making sure customers can browse, understand and buy without unnecessary friction. A store that is accurate, responsive and easy to use gives people one more reason to trust your business.
